New tasks in libraries
Abstract
Besides "conventional" audio-visual information carriers (film, slide, over head projector, record, tape eto.) big quantity of recorded tapes and video casettes are also commercially available. Moreover in the near future the spreading of video-disc as mass product is also to be taken into account.
These new information carriers are knocking at library doors re-questing admittance. Progress indicates the way that libraries will merge with audio-visual centres. The libraries therefore have to prepare themselves to the new tasks: the collection, processing, storing and circulating of non-printed materials in addition to printed ones.
