Twenty years of the list New Book Acquisitions of the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre (OMKDK)
Abstract
1971 sees the twentieth volume of the list New Book Acquisitions of the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre (OMKDK), a periodical publication giving current information on the acquisitions of Hungary's largest collection of technical literature. Published first in 1952, the list had undergone several changes before it was given its present form.
Published bi-monthly, the publication lists the new acquisitions in 11 series, each covering a certain thematic field in the order of UDC numbers. It contains the bibliographical descriptions of a yearly average of 7 to 8 thousand books, monographs, research reports, etc. The pages are perforated as that each item can be removed and mounted onto a card to serve as a catalogue card if so desired.
In the form of machine-produced lists, supplements are giving information on other library holdings including university lecture notes, periodicals, ephemeral materials.
The 1536 subscribers to the various series of the list include libraries of industrial companies, plants, research and designing institutes, and institutions of technical higher education.
Giving a rapid information on the Library's new acquisitions, the list serves a very useful purpose. Its efficacy is to be increased in the future by a more differentiated listing of the rich material.
