The Hungarian Institute for Market Research
Abstract
The introduction of the new system of economic management in Hungary has increased, to a very large extent, the demand of producting, marketing and servicing companies for information about market conditions. Set up in 1966, ths Hungarian Institute for Market Research tends to meet the needs of market research. The institute's main task is to conduct market surveys, both at home and abroad, relating to defined groups of services and goods, and to make predictions, upon the request of its customers, concerning the future outlets of their goods. The Institute's organization includes departments of capital goods and consumer'a goods, further departments for domestic and foreign market research. The Institute'a permanent information panel, covering 19.000 households, some 400 industrial plants, and over 1500 dealers, is at the researchers' disposal.
The Institute is also active in a wide range of brokerage. Its information catalogues, covering the concrete demands for and selection of foodstuffs, clothing, and industrial products, are published 12 times a year in three earles each on 200 pages. The Institute also maintains show-rooms where exhibitions are arranged upon request. To popularize products of superior quality and aesthetic exterior, the Institute runs the Forum of Top-Quality Goods.
The Institute'a methodological quarterly. Marketing - Marketing Research, provides - among other functions - a debating forum for the marketing specialists of the socialist countries.
