Market reseach in the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of the Ministry of Metallurgy and Machine
Abstract
Within the national information system great significance is attached to the complex informations wich appear as a complex of interrelated informations originating from several technical branches or scientific disciplines. Complex informations are processed e.g. by the information services dealing with technical, economic and market information.
Complex information for the field of metallurgy and machine industry is disseminated by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of the Ministry. The Institute cooperates with the national information centres. One of the most important of the Institute is Information on trends and markets, the latter chiefly related to the export markst of capital equipment.
A centralized market research service may provide efficiently information to industrial firms which by themselves could not undertake that task. Apart from the secondary literature sources, market research relies largely on primary sources, which furnish information mainly through a wide-ranging network of experts.
The information arriving through continuous, periodical or non-recurring operating channels, serve as input to an information store. Informations may be retrieved according to geographic, economic, subject etc. approach. Measurements have been carried out to find an optimal solution for the structure of the store. The optimum has been defined by means of a formula as a function of the input and output. The possibility of the increase of the storage capacity has also been taken into aocount.
The structure of the market research report going as deep individual products and groups of products, can be broken down into two major parts: 1. investigations into the production, that is, a comparison - from the technological and economic viewpoint - of the production of the inquirer with the production of the competitive firms; 2. sales research which, in case of export market research, can be divided into investigating the trade relations, the demand, the competition and the sale of products.
The last part of the article deals with the conclusions to which the inquirer may come in regard to development, production and business policy. PERT diagrams are being prepared for each of the ten fully deseribed working phases of the general market research report ensuring by the optimal time-schedule for the market research.
