Report on the activities of the Central Library of the Budapest Technical University in 1966.

Abstract

The Central Library of the Budapest Technical University introduced last year a more up-to-date organization, determined the spheres of activities based on its new statutes. In realizing development projects the equipment far compact storage in the basement was almost entirely completed, and new machines were purchased for the photolaboratory and the binding workshop. The Library continued to cooperate with the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre in the acquizition of literature. The activities of the Library are characterized by the following data: the holdings increased by 13.849 volumes (out of which 5288 standards and patent specifications, lecture notes etc.) and by 1626 periodicals. The increasing use of the library collections is shown by the augmentation of the number of readers from 10.780 in 1965 to 11.077; the turnover has increased from almost 300.000 volumes in 1965 to 314.000 volumes. The distribution of books and periodicals used according to language: 56,22 % Hungarian, 3,29 Russian, 18,35 % English, 16,90 % Germán, 2,33 % French, 2,91 % other languages.
