An informal training method for documentalists in France

Abstract

The French Association of Documentation Orgons (UFOD - Union Francaise des Organismes des Documentation) is organizing regular training course for documentalists since 20 years. The recently revised and up-to-time curriculum contains the entire field of information activities as: detection, identification, analysis, dissemination and storing of data.
The methods of temining applied differ conaiderably from the usual ones. The import of knowledge is directly connected to the actual and special interest of the students and rendered informal by a lively discussion and conversation between the lectorer and the audience. The students themselves are representing the user and its needs during the training, so they can judge the different forms and efficiency of information services. The curriculum embraces also the study of human sbilities for rendering informmtion, as well as the various means and equipment for processing and disseminating information.
