Abstract

The sbject matter topic of the exhibition organized by the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre at the Budapest International Fair is the documentation of automation and the automation of documentation. The employment of automation may be of an extremely multilateral character. Mechanical engineering employs up-to-date automated machinery, equipment, and systems, if a world standard level and economic production is endeavoured. Certain stages of intellectual work, administrative and management activities, technical planning tasks, decision making to issue instructions, or even some educational duties can be automated.
With the increasing significance of automation recognized, the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre is steadily expanding its information services on the professional literature concerning automation, with the assistance of the Hungarian Technical Development Committee. Part of this activity was demonstrated in five different subject matter scopes by the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre in its pavilion at the Budapest International Fair:
1. Information processing equipment types,
2. Theoretical fundamentals of control engineering,
3. Electronic computers,
4. Automation of administrative duties,
5. Complex automation.
The bibliographies conforming to these topics enlist the 3000 most important book and periodical publication titles of the last 10 years, with an indication of the respective locations in Hungary. A separate publication deals with the organizations rendering information on the professional literature concerning automation.
Automation is of utmost importance in the field of information as well: processing of the professional literature, raview of the enormous mass of information data will not be feasible in the future without the mechanization and automation of documentation. Some means of this activity, for example, various microfilm cameras and developers, punch tape typewriters, etc. hava also been displayed by the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre.
