Abstract

An outstanding feature of the activity conducted by the Central Library of the Budapest Technical University in 1965 is represented by the co-ordination of the collection scope of the Library with the activities of the national codex on collection scope. In certain fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and geology sciences, the Library undertook fundamental library duties while in other areas library functions of co-ordination character. Furthermore, the Library carried on the co-ordination of departmental book an periodical orders for foreign currency and, by the elimination of parallel duplicate orders, achieved significant savings. Its reader turnover reveals peak results: 10.780 readers registered, and charged a total of 294.497 volumes last year. The library continued to maintain literature research practices for chemistry students, and increased the number of professional bibliographies published. Participants of the basic course for departmental library staff passed their examination with an average classification of 4.8 mark. The publication activity of the Library was similarly expanded: 90 papers by 27 associates have been published in 1965. Tha co-operation contract concluded with the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre proved very successful.
