Punched card machines in the preparation of special lists concerning the patents

Abstract

Tho author reports on a visit to the Elektroapparate Werke in Berlin (GDR). The firm uses punched card machines in order to prepare useful tools for the purpose of patent literature searches. The coding of the cards, the methods of subject analysis and the preparation of various lists is explained. The content of these lists and the way of their use in the everyday work of engineers is described.
