The present situation in technical literary documentation training in Hungary
Abstract
The education and training of professionals participating in scientific and technical information activity are of a differentiated and manifold character by necessity. According to the occupational differences, separate education and training must be ensured for professionals participating in the organization of the information service or in the production of information media, and a separate one again for those having duties in disseminating information. The recommendations composed in Hungary to promote the future development of the education and training of technical literature information experts have taken all these aspects into consideration. There will be a professional engineering course established within the activity scope of the Budapest Technical University aiming at the education and training of specialists having duties covering technical documentation work, technical management of mechanized data processing, as well as documentary processing. Another course started at the Budapest Technical University is intended for engineers having jobs including the dissemination of scientific and technical literature information, that is, information meeting local requirements. For those participating in the dissemination of information, another course will be organized by the Library Science Department of the Budapest University for Sciences. The applied linguistics-mathematics department established within the Budapest University for Sciences will qualify for documentation research work and theoretical information activity as well. In addition, for those engaged in data dissemination certain industrial centres will organize separate courses. Finally, professionals responsible for engineering development will also be given appropriate education and training.
