Scientific Information Activity of the Association of Hungarian Scientific and Engineering Societies (MTESZ)

Abstract

The mission of the MTESZ is to give the technical, agricultural and scientific intellectuals a high level information on the new result of science, industry and their effect upon peoples' economy. The 25 learned societies and 15 filials cover the whole country numbering 76.063 members. 34 committees deal with the theory and method of scientific technical information.
Kinds of information are lectures, congresses, conferences, field-trips at home and abroad, comparing notes and product shows. The Association has a wide-spread publication activity. The MTESZ resp. the learned societies have a great part in the engineering, agricultural and scientific press by their 63 special papers.
The publications of the Association are also of great importance. They give the full or abreviated texts mainly in foreign languages of the lectures held at congresses, conferences, etc. They also publish the training texts of the societies courses.
As for information "the list of international congresses, conferences, symposiums and meetings" is published twice a year and the selected catalogue of foreign shows and fairs is published once a year. The "Information of programmes and meetings of the MTESZ", the scientific societies and the local associations is published weekly.
17 committees deal with the making of technical scientific films. International engineering scientific film festivals have been regularly held since 1959.
