Documentation of technical documentations in mechanical engineering

Abstract

From point of view of information services the most important documents of product design and development are those of the planning objectives, engineering plan, processing documentation, drawings of work pieces in experimentation and research of prototype unit, pilot lot and online series. The documents mentioned are authentic sources for product design and development and, therefore, their analysis and processing by means of the library, bibliography or documentation techniques are needed. This work is preferably performed in the very establishments where the documents in question are produced and/or actually made use of. Although there have been some measures introduced within the authority of the Ministry of Metallurgy and Machine Engineering to enforce the centralized registration, recording, and processing of product development provisions, these will be modified in the next future. However, in most industries, the documentation problem of engineering documentations has not yet been settled.
