Development of the network of industrial libraries in 1961
Abstract
Hungarian speciel libraries in industrial enterprises are gathered in an unified network under the direction of the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre. These industrial (technical) libraries make varlous reports and accounts about their activities for tho centre, where the methodological department use them for valuation and for setting up future tasks. One of the ways for this is the summing up of yearly statistical reports of libraries.
According to statiatical figures in 1961 there were 905 industrial libraries in Hungary (among them: 761 in factories, 101 in research- and planning-institutions and 45 in other industrial organisations). Their stock (excluded that of the centre) consisted of more than 3.000.000 library units, and increased with 11,7 per cent in the last year.
The documents within the network of industrial libraries were studied regularly by 56,5 per cent of the engineers and technicians (48,65 % in the factories and 89,27 in the research- and planning-institutions).
