Introduction into the documentation of metallurgical liteerature

Abstract

There are but a few full-time technical librarians to be found in metallurgical undertakings. It would be logical to fill up the gaps arising from this bottleneck by a more ample documentary material, however this is not everywhere the case. For instance only 13 out of the 18 fims are subscribers to the Technical Review of the Hungarian Central Technical Library and 9 to the subject surveying service for 100 topics. Services of the subcenter are hardly at all made use of.
From among foreign documentation services the following may be used under circumstances of this country fruitfully: Referativnüj Zsurnal edited by VINITI and in addition the raspective series of Express Informatzia; the metallurgical bibliographies of Centralnaja Biblioteka Cvetnoj; documentary publications of the Polish Scientific Institutions in thie field; the German abstracting journal : Montanwissenschaftliche Literaturberichte - Abteilung B. Metallurgie; the indexing review of the American Society of Metals entitled ASM Review of Metal Literature etc.
From among the documentation services of this country there are the Technical Review of the Hungarian Central Technical Library, the differentiated material of the subject surveying service, the journal of Innovators, the Bulletin of Patents etc.
