Conference on some actual problems of documentation

Abstract

Documentalists of the Hungarian Central Technical Library, of the research and planning institutes and factories have discussed the "new methods and techniques for the communication of knowledge" in the foregraund of interest the world over.
The conference, based upon the studies of Coblans and Kyle, has also analyzed the questions facing Hungarian documentation and summarized the most important tasks in the followings:
1. Popularization of new methods in documentation.
2. Overcoming the antipathy for the substitution of original documents.
3. Preparation of a long term program for the documentation of Hungarian documents.
4. Extension the base of documentation.
5. Development of a precise terminology in the various fields of science and technology.
6. Increasing the accuracy of abstracting.

7. Basic experiments on mechanization.
8. Training of documentalists and special librarians in the mechanization of documentation.
9. Establishment of a committee for studying these questions. The conference, with S. Balázs in the chair, made many proposals and discussed the remarks of 13 speakers.
