Exchange of periodical publications and microfilms in the Hungarian Central Technical Library

Abstract

This article contains a detailed account of the Hungarian Central Technical Library's activity of exchanging periodical publications and microfilms with numerous foreign scientific institutions. This activity is being extended in different directions.
1. The exchange agreements are mainly based on the Library's own publication, a quarterly review on Hungarian technical and scientific literature, issued in three languages (English, Russian and German) under the titles: HUNGARIAN TECHNICAL ABSTRACTS, OBZOR VENCERSKOJ TEHNICSESKOJ LITERATURÜ, ZENTRALBLATT DER UNGARISCHEN TECHNIK.
2. Besides the above publications, the Library exchanges other Hungarian technical papers as well.
3. Microfilms of certain scientific articles are also being sent on exchange basis to foreign applicants.
More than 550 scientific institutions in 35 countries participate in the exchange facilities mentioned above.
The Library's main intention is to abtain in return publications on technics of high scientific value - which are hardly available by way of the trade (research - and congress-reports, dissertations etc.) - and to put them as early as possible at the disposal of the documentation service.
