International meeting in Budapest on the problems of furnishing and equipping big libraries

Abstract

On the invitation of the National Széchényi Library, an international meeting was held on December 9-11, 1969, to discuss the problems of furnishing and equipping big libraries. The problems of internal transport of holdings was dealt with by Karl Heinz WENKEL, Head of Department of the Deutsche Bücherei, Leipzig, Desanka STAMATOVIC, Dusica STOSIC, and Dragutin NIKCEVIC of the Belgrade National Library held a lecture on Categories of scientific research work in the reading rooms of The National Library of the Serbian People'a Republic. Tibor TOMBOR treated the questions of The qualified parts and equipments of the reading areas of big libraries. The problems of reprography, microfilming and rapid copying were covered by two lecturers: Jaroslav ZAVADA of the Prague State Library (Reprography and rapid copying in the reading area); Henryka JASKOWSKA of the Warsaw National Library (Soma methods of document duplication systems adopted in the library practice). György PAJKOSSY lectured on The open access reference collections for the reading rooms in the planned new building of the National Széchenyi Library. The author critically reviems the main arguments of the papers read at the meeting.
