Who preserves social media?

Abstract

This article deals with the preservation of born-digital content on today's most important information and communication platforms, collectively known as social media. The author lists the problems that make these present-time and self-perpetuating 'bubble universes' more challenging to archive than the traditional web, and then describes the methods and techniques that can be used. Finally, he presents the results of tests carried out so far at the National Széchényi Library, and gives a brief international overview of this specific field.
