Hungarian professional journals, especially TMT, have published many studies on library issues related to digital humanities, so its nature is already well known. However, it is worth noting that this discipline is not only a set of activities and projects related to the use of digital technologies in humanities research. Many see it as more than that, as a new, collaborative, cross-disciplinary form and system of research, education and publication activities, providing an institutional background to achieve relevant goals, involving libraries and librarians. Accordingly, this paper focuses mainly on the ideas and experiences of librarians in the United States of America over more than two decades, but also draws on the experiences of libraries in the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
