The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is the leading organisation in the field of library and information science. The standards, policies and guidelines produced and published under their auspices are internationally reviewed and accepted, and the principles and models they set out encourage institutions and professionals to develop best practice.
The IFLA Rare Book and Special Collections Section (IFLA RBSC) Competency Guidelines for Rare Books and Special Collections Professionals, published in 2020, is a set of guidelines that specifically support the professional development of rare book, manuscript and special collections professionals and help them to maintain high standards in their work.
