Around 2010 a clear need arouse for a radical change in information publications issued by libraries. Librarians wanted to create materials that capture the attention of readers, and deliver the required message. Users, on the other hand – spoilt by information coming from the media which is easy-to-receive and process – turned away from classical, text-based brochures and descriptions. This gave way to the old-new common language, i.e. to the image, while the role of text is diminishing, and may eventually cease. The evolving genre, information graphics, requires new knowledge: instead of raster graphics, the use of vector graphics became typical, and, besides web collections and editing interfaces that aid practical implementation, we needed a drawing software enabling to create own graphics. As a result of the relevant infographic project, we created 11 posters in 3 years on a wide variety of content and with a versatile design. Illustrated by these examples, the author describes the path covered, and cites the theoretical and practical decisions made.
