Abstract

Integrated library management and access systems Tinlib (Tinlib, T Series) and Qtéka (Q Series) have been developed from an identical software family product. Tinlib solutions of library automation tasks are satisfying, but the system does not store data in standardized format. Qtéka is a fully standardized library system with SQL data struc-ture management, MARC-based record design, and Z39.50 protocol. The survey of a global stock created and stored in Tinlib databases in Hungary confirms that the record property is imposing in quantity. Aim of KözTéka initiative is to create a web tool for searching and retrievíng information either in virtual or centraiized databases, managing record exchange and shared cataloguing. Information retrieval by Z39.50 will enable such conversations with Tinlib as well.
