Digital libraries and copyright

The idea of the library, i.e. the preservation and supply of cultural hentage, and the copyright have been facing challenges as a consequence of tech-nological development. The author discusses the change in the equilibrium of libraries and copyright practices that has been förmed during several decades of years, brought about by digitalization, storing and electronic supply of library documents that have existed in printed form so far. He, on the other hand, presents alsó somé practical advises
for digital archiving programs that have been pro-liferating recently in libraries. Obviously, there is no final answerto the questions that have emerged in the subject of copyright yet; neither can the author present solutions to problems, rather he himself raises questions. It is hoped that the interpretation of legal literature and the evolving practice of copyright laws will bring a permanent solution for digital libraries.
