Abstract

The largest pubiic library network in Hungary, the Budapest Ervin Szabó Library celebrates in the near future the 100th anniversary of its establishment. During its history the Library has had a determining role in both the supply of the Budapest pubiic with information and the development of librarianship in Hungary. This concise htstorical review by librarians of Ervin Szabó Library presents the important stages and events of the Library's development, from its establishment up to the most significant event of the previous year: the opening of the new central library building.
