Renewal of reference services in the Central Library of the Budapest Ervin Szabó Library (FSZEK), Hungary

Abstract

Following the three-year reconstruction of the Central Library of FSZEK, the reference services have been restructured, too. The seats in the 11 readings rooms and the number of reference books have multiplied. In special reading rooms the bibliographic database of fine literature, various FSZEK databases, reference books, CD-ROMs and internet availability is at the readers' disposal. The number of registered readers in 2002 has doubled to that in three years earlier. More than half, 54 per cent of the 48,000 registered readers are students. The number of average daily visitors is 3500, and 70-78 thousand documents are circulated monthly.
