Public information services in the Budapest Ervin Szabó Library's (FSZEK), Hungary, Browsing Department

Abstract

The author reviews the preliminary actions, establishment and present functions of the pubiic information services in FSZEK that started in December 1987. This service, following the general reconstruction of the central building of FSZEK has been operating as the Browsing Department for satisfying general reader interests of the pubiic. The special database developed by the Department is used alsó by 36 county and town libraries in Hungary, in addition to the member libraries of the FSZEK network in Budapest.
