Two postscripts to the Librarians' Manual

Abstract

Following the appearance of the closing Fifth Volume of Librarians' Manual, the two editors give separate accounts on editorial problems, compromises, experiences as well as on the possibilities and conditions of a new revised edition. T. Horváth, under the subtitle Side Notes, writes about the editorial concepts and on the interrelation between the Manual and the everyday library-information practice. He urges to incorporate into the revised edition the institutional background. I. Papp, under the subtitle Prior to a New Edition?, discusses the difficulties of editohal work, and the overlaps and deficiencies of the volumes' contents. He misses the chronology of Hungárián library matters that was left out from Volume 5 due to size limits. He proposes the electronic editing and elec¬tronic publication of the next edition of the Manuál, and he points out the need of a permanent editohal board.
