The activities of EBLIDA (European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations) are de-scribed, in their relation to European organizations. EBLIDA plays an intermediary role between European library communities on one sídé, and the European Union and the European Council on the other. This way it contributes to the formation of European information policy, represents the position and role of libraries in the formulatíon of relevant European directives (e.g. copyright, licensing, computer software, lending rights), re-veals for libraries the possibilities of partícipation in vari-ous European research projects, and introduces libraries of Central and Eastern European countries to European co-operative programs.
