Abstract

In this series the concepts of information science, their evolution, appearance and relationships are presented, in the framework of the development of these concepts. In addition to establish a cultural historical tableau, the aim is to create a model for forming a more unified image of information. In the fourth part the early historical development of logics and algorithms is discussed, which form the basis of the theoretical, mechanized and automated forms of information processing. Finally, a brief historical outline is given of the history of mechanical computing mechanisms from the abacus to the Babbage analyticai machine.
