The location database of National Document Delivery System (ODR) and its new services

Abstract

The ODR location database (http://odr.Iib.klte.hu) provides location information on the collections of five major university libraries in Hungary, and those of other ODR members, at least to the extent of document purchased from ODR funds for document delivery purposes. The jnterface of the database provides the possibility of initializing direct interlibrary loan requests for the document at the selected location. The database at present contains 985,257 bibliographic records and 1,582,278 location data. The size of the database requires slightly different search strategies from those used in an average size OPAC Some new services of the database from the options to sort the search results to adding a separate subject heading are described, for the pre-coordination of the selected subject terms for retrieval in the bibliographic database. This feature makes the database more user friendly. The basic interlibrary loan service is enhanced with loan policy statements of libraries added which can be checked just before sending out the requests to avoid interfering with the previously performed searches Some new usage statistlcs are also available.
