Snapshot of corporate libraries and of information audit in institutions
Keywords:
-Abstract
Corporate libraries make themselves indispensable relative to their external and internal competitors, by providing special services: cataloguing. conlracting with publishers for service benefits to users, alerting services etc. However, without own business management. high-level service standards, paying conscious attention to users and individual initiatives the librarian is a servant rather than a service provider. During the assessment of library activities („what is the worth for the company to run its library") the latent expenses on the user side should also be taken into account, like the cost of maintaining a local network. Preparations for an audit of our institution should be made, the practice of audit should be incorporated in our everyday work, including a mapping and awareness of needs, sources and flow of information.
