An admission system in the Central Library of the University of Miskolc

Abstract

In September 1999 an admission and identification system has been installed in Central Library of the University of Miskolc. The two gates equipped with rotating arms, were purchased form an extemal firm, the software is self-made. The three purposes of the admission system are:

– Control: Only readers who have a borrower's card, are allowed to enterthe library.

– Statistics: Statistical data are collected of vis-itors by their type which are processed daily, monthly and yeariy. These statistics are acces-sible via the Internet, under the address http://kvtcd3.tib.uni-miskolc.hu/stat.htmt.

– Record of work hours: The library staff should register their entries to and exits from the library, this record is processed and printed every week.
