Project management and its education

Abstract

The knowledge-based society requires that libraries and information organizations increase their efficiencies. The tools for this objective include project management. Projects have been established to meet challenges toward these organizations and their development, and the management should treat them with special care. This is the reason why the education of project management has become a part of information scientist training in the Roland Eötvös University's Department of Library and Information Science as a special course. Following the description of the subjects and the organization framework of this course, the experiences of project management education are discussed. The project work tasks announcement is attached, together with the documentation elaborated by students on a hypothetic project.
