The library consortium of Washington D.C.

Abstract

There is a tradition going back to severa! decades of years in the Unrted States on the cooperation between libraries. A good example is the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) uniting seven academic libraries. This consortium, to meet the challenge of the information revolution of the nineties, has established new grounds for the relations of its member libranes which have gone back to the sixties. The new achievements inciude a common control organization, shared oniine catalogs, common book stores and several new services for library users.
