Copyright theory and electronic library practice

Abstract

Computer applications and digitalization, to-gether with electronic publishing have created changed situations in library collections. The es-tablishing of the Hungárián Electronic Library have been made possible by these new developments. In the Internet environment copyright must be ac-complished under new conditions. HEL faces somé difficulties, too, in the development of its collection, because the ideas of copyright based on paper formats can not always be transferred into the electronic environment. There are, how-ever, ways out of this situation which facilitate libraries to furfil their traditional tasks under changed conditions and in the new environment.
