Telematics conception of the strategic development plan of library matters in Hungary

Abstract

The strategic development plan is based on the concept outlined by the National Informatics Strategy. It contains political, economical, social and technological factors that contribute to free access to information at atl places in Hungary, ie., that make libraries to the fundamental institutions of the information society. The issues covered include system elements, compilation of information inventory. information infrastructure of some libraries, cooperation needs, digitalization, development of the Hungarian Electronic Library, problems of education and financing. This latter is attempted to solve primary through applicatbns for grants. Finally, the scheduling of the development plans for the períod 1998-2000 is summarized.
