In Sweden, the Medical Subject Headings system (MeSH) has been used for more than three decades of years but the decision to translate it to the Swedish language was made only in 1995. The reasons of the translation are the sophisticated structure of the keyword system and the expansion of the retrieval needs of medical information is Sweden.
