Status report and action plan for the optimization of national supply of life science journals in Hungary

Abstract

For the rehabilitation of health services in Hungary the inevitable challenge to improve literature supply has to be solved. In the absence of a national medical library the medical core journals should be distributed among the four medical university libraries. Two sets of core journals were identified using scientific methods, each set to be acquired by two libraries jointly. These journals will be used to provide timely and reliable library services in the more than 300 special medical and health service libraries throughout the country. The subscription for the two sets would be arranged by the Ministry of Health and by the Ministry of Education of Hungary.
