Alice in the library -or what will be the model of university libraries in 2010?

Abstract

A library management seminar was organized by the British Council in Norwick, East England, from 22 to 28 March, 1998, on the future of university libraries. Librarians from all over the world have formufated their views, using strategic plan-ning methods, on the library scenario in 2010. The changes have been visualized by the influence of some obvious key factors: knowledge, globalization, digitalization, virtualization, integration, innovation, changed learning processes, competition etc. The major tool of handling these factors is advanced strategic management. It means in the library environment proper collection, source and humán resource management. One of the strategic management techniques, the Delphi method is described in detail.
