Small libraries on the Internet

Abstract

Small special libraries in Hungary using the Tinlib system have sought solutions, within the frame of two TEMPUS grants, for the DOS-based catalogue service on the internet. The first grant is used to link the catalogues of both libraries to the „Közelkat" system. The second grant helps to install a common server under the auspieces of the Tinlib user service. The main phases of the project are: (1) Both libraries convert and upload their catalogues to the databases inplemented on the common server that are available on the internet and updated continously. (2) The databases will be searchable on multiple surfaces, in simple Web form and in more complex forms. (3) The catalogues will be linked in reasonable groups to the Közelkat system. (4) A common system will be created for storing the libraries' full-text and multimedia documents.
