Abstract

Due to the development of information science and technology, traditional and electronic document and information supply by libraries coexist. The changing role of libraries needs new solutions in library policy, organization and financing. Sources of financing should be extended, in addition to government budget, also to enterprises, to the civil society and to the individual as contributors to costs. The possibilities offered by the non-profit formation to financing of library and information services, and the feasibility of a common financing model are discussed.
