Abstract

The commercial World Wide We b service of Engineering Information, Inc., is a great experiment in the worid of engineering information. Ei Village attempts to mérge successfutly electronic information sources and new possibilities offered by the Internet. In addition to databases, document delivery service, and consulants available through electronic mail, the visitors of the virtual engineering village have access to WWW pages in several engineering fields, gophers, newsgroups and mailgroups through a huge collection of links that have been selected and arranged carefully, and maintained effectively. The author describes and, based on his experiences with eiectronic information services, analyzes the Ei Village.
