Two surveys on the information acquisition habits of teachers and researchers of the University of Horticulture and Food, Hungary

Abstract

The two surveys indicated in the title were completed in 1981 and 1993. The objectives were to determine the proportion of teachers and researchers of the University who are willing to use the most advanced information services availabie at the time of the respective surveys. In 1981 it was SDI services, in 1993 online and CD-ROM search services with almost all existing databases relevant for the University avaiiable. It was found that both in 1981 and 1993 the proportion of those. who are not aware of or refrain from the use of advanced information technologies was very high, above 50 percent. Therefore, better promotion of computer information services is needed at the UHF.
