Abstract

The significance of interlibrary loaning has been growing in Hungárián libraries due to the high International journal subscription prices. The author, based on experiences at the Central Library of the Pécs Medical University, Hungary, shows how the worldwide computer network, the Internet can be used for this purpose. OPACs are presented and their capabilities for complementing missing data are explained, the WWW pages of important pub-lishers are listed, experiences with document de-livery through e-mail are evaluated, and aids that can be used for helping interlibrary loaning and reference services, first of all for medical libraries are proposed.
