Information technology developments in special libraries of the Ministry of Transport, Telecommunications and Water Management, Hungary

Abstract

In special libraries under the supervision of MTTWM a substantial information technology development had been going on from 1991 to 1995. It was found very useful that the special library of the Institute for Transport Sciences Ltd. has coordinated these development activities while maintaining the independence of each individual organization. Special attention has been paid on introducing up-to-date technologies, on exploring beneficial acquisition sources, on personnel training, and on international relations. The Appendix of the paper contains characteristic data of information technology in libraries participating in the development project.
