Abstract

In the rapidly changing environment of the „information age", there are two elements that play key roles in preserving the viability of librarians. The professional association is crucial for self-development and advancement, and the resource sharing network is key to progressive and costeffective library services. In the United States and Canada, the Medical Library Association is the foremost professional association for health science librarians, while OhioLINK is the premier network for providing shared resources. The programs of both are described.
