The „electric librarian": a library profession seeking its position

Abstract

The librarian applies advanced tools for information services but, in order to become a successful reference librarian, he or she should find his or her proper place under the library's roof, and his or her role in library services and workflows, in addition to be aware of current developments in information science and technology. The „electric librarian's" tasks include to get colleagues and bosses know and accept new information tools and opportunities. An important element of integration is the close cooperation and everyday link with traditional reference librarians.
