Electronic library in a research institute for physics

Abstract

The author describes the cooperation between the Library and the Computer Network Centre of the Central Research Institute of Physics (KFKI), Hungary or, after its reorganization in 1993, of its five successor institutes, in the fields of computerized library and information services. KFKI started computer information retrieval in this country as early as in 1970, which was shortly followed by a computer catalogue of research reports. Recently the integrated library system of KFKI has been installed that is available on the Internet. KFKI's World Wide Web system has also started. The KFKI Computer Network Centre, in cooperation with KFKI Library, taking into account the special information needs of scientists and engineers, sets the goal to make the KFKI WWW an extensive information source and a starting point for information searching.
