Experiences with public procurement in the Library of Parliament, Hungary

Abstract

The law on public procurement or tendering has brought about new challenges for the libraries in Hungary. It is obvious that, first of all, journals have to be ordered according to this law. The Library of Parliament completed the application for tender with the help of an external contractor. Four offers were received from two Hungarian and from two foreign suppliers. After the evaluation of the offers, contracts were made with three suppliers. The author summarizes the experiences with the first tendering action of this library.
