Role and responsibility of special libraries in the utilization of Internet information

Abstract

Victoria Kok, the librarian engaged in veterinary sciences of the Virginia Politechnic Institute and State University established the VETLIB-L in 1991, based on the possibilities offered by the Internet. 180 library has joined VETLIB-L since, and they cornmunicate with each other online for document supply, duplicate exchange, organization of meetings, data supplement, project matters etc. The ethical rules of the communication have been formed during operation. The Central Library of the Budapest University of Veterinary Sciences has gained positive experiences with VETLIB-L.
